Dripping Data is an installation visualising the process behind visiting a website. When you visit any website, your browser requests data from different data centers all over the world. This normally happens in less than a second. Because this happens so fast it is mostly taken for granted, and the process is forgotten. With this project we make the visitor aware of this process again. Each sculpture represents another website. The time it takes to load a website and the amount of steps it takes are represented by layers of fabric that dissolves in water. Pouring liquid over the sculptures starts the the loading process, passing each consecutive hop until it reaches the bottom. This is a collaboration with Michelle van Ool and Tycho Kilsdonk.
